The CERES Centre will be a leading Australian example of ecological best practice building design, and collaborative community processes. Our vision is for CERES Centre to be a national beacon of social and ecological capital; a prominent Australian and international example of innovative solutions to one of the most pressing issues of our time-Climate Change. At every step of the design and construction process we are aiming to minimise the Centres’ carbon footprint and strive towards a Zero Emission building.

CERES Centre will be:

  • an example of what a sustainable future looks like; a future that is compelling, vibrant and fun, a vision that inspires people to join in.
  • a place for empowering disadvantaged people.
  • an inclusive forum for business, government and community sectors to turn ideas into practical solutions for sustainable and socially equitable living.
  • a think tank and sector for leadership and creativity in sustainability research, innovation and practice.
  • a centre that integrates and explores ecological, social and cultural ideas and provides for these to be linked with the 'real, vibrant life' happening on the CERES site.
  • a place to learn how to reduce our ecological footprint - locally and globally through community resource sharing, through continuation of the established CERES education and training programs.
  • a green building - a leading Australian example of ecological best practice building, design and collaborative community processes. A development that places hundreds of cutting edge and affordable building ideas in front of each visitor.
  • a place for celebrating successes and 'singing up solutions' through the arts, festivals and cultural community gatherings.
  • a place which assists developing countries in sustainable practices, particularly in the face of climate change and its effect on the world's poorest.
